ICFA Donates $5,000 to Southest Woman’s Organization

The Independent Cities Finance Authority (ICFA) recently donated $5,000 to the Southeast Woman’s Organization (SEWO) in Los Angeles. SEWO Is a community-based nonprofit formed with the purpose of empowering local women and their families. The organization provides a variety of services to the southeast cities of South Gate, Walnut Park, Lynwood, Huntington Park, Bell, and others. They provide educational seminars and host domestic violence prevention conferences, as well as providing emergency food, clothing and shelter to women and children in need.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank ICFA for their generous contribution,” said Marisol Camelo, President of SEWO. “It gives me great comfort and joy to know that there are still organizations like ICFA, willing and able to form partnerships with organizations like ours.”

SEWOThe donation was made this past winter, and contributed directly toward SEWO’s traditional holiday events. The funds supported the distribution of over 500 turkeys to needy families that would not otherwise have enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving feast, as well as the Annual Christmas Toy Give-Away, which provided over 3,500 quality toys to boys and girls in Los Angeles.

ICFA is proud to support this organization, and the people of Southern California. Since our formation twenty years ago, we have sought opportunities to finance positive programs. While generally our focus is on large bond financing projects, we love being able to make contributions of a smaller scale, where the benefits are so immediately realized.
